Tommy, a Ópera Rock

Tommy (1975), com Roger Daltrey, Elton John, Oliver Reed, Ann-Margaret (ah, a cena do chocolate....), Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson, além de muito outros.

A Ópera Rock vinha a reboque de Hair e Woodstock. Os grandes shows se tornavam mega-shows e o rock procurava caminhos próprios, órfão que estava dos Beatles.

Duas são as principais músicas do filme: "See me, feel me - Listening to you", que mostra a origem dos problemas de Tommy (Roger Daltrey), que se torna cego, surdo e mudo.

See Me, Feel me - Listening to you (The Who)
See Me
Feel Me
Touch Me
Heal Me
See Me
Feel Me
Touch Me
Heal Me
Listening to you, I get the music
Gazing at you, I get the heat
Following you, I climb the mountain
I get excitement at your feet
Right behing you, I see the millions
On you, I see the glory
From you, I get opinion
From you, I get the story
Listning to you, I get the music
Gazing at you, I get the heat
Following you, I climb the mountain
I get excitement at your feet
Right behing you, I see the millions
On you, I see the glory
From you, I get oponion
From you, I get the story

A segunda música é "Pinball Wizard", que descreve o desespero do campeão de "pinball" Local Lad (Elton John) quando perde o desafio para o cego, surdo e mudo Tommy.

Pinball Wizard (The Who)

Ever since I was a young boy
I've played the silver ball
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all
But I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball

He stands like a statue
Becomes part of the machine
Feeling all the bumpers
Always playing clean
He plays by intuition
The digit counters fall
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball

He's a pinball wizard
There's got to be a twist
A pinball wizard
He's got such a supple wrist

How do you think he does it?
(I don't know)
What makes him so good?

He ain't got no distractions
Can't hear those buzzers and bells
Don't see lights a flashin'
Plays by sense of smell
Always gets a replay
Never tilts at all
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball

He can't beat me now
I've always beeing a champ
I know every trick
No freak´s gone beat my hand

I was the king of table
He can beat my best
His disciples lead him in
And he just does the rest
He's got crazy flipper fingers
Never seen him fall
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball

Dio, come ti amo!

Filme italiano de 1966, levou multidões às salas de cinema no Brasil, principalmente graças à música título.

Quem canta é Gigliola Cinquetti, que atua no filme ao lado de Mark Damon. O filme é fraquísimo, mas a música marcou época.

"Dio come ti amo"

(Domenico Modugno, 1966)

Nel cielo

passano le nuvole

che vanno verso il mare,

sembrano fazzoletti bianchi

che salutano

il nostro amore.

Dio come ti amo

non è possibile

avere fra le braccia

tanta felicità

baciare le tue labbra

che odorano di vento

noi due innamorati

come nessuno al mondo

Dio come ti amo

mi vien da piangere

in tutta la mia vita

non ho provato mai

un bene così caro

un bene così vero

chi può fermare il fiume

che corre verso il mare

le rondini nel cielo

che vanno verso il sole

chi può cambiar l'amore

l'amore mio per te

Dio come ti amo

Dio come ti amo

Mrs Robinson

Abaixo, a cena em que Benjamin fala: "Mrs Robinson, You are trying to seduce me, aren't you?"

http://

Mas as músicas de Simon e Garfunkel embalaram uma geração de nova-iorquinos e sobreviveram ao filme.

Destaque para as duas principais: "The Sound of Silence" e "Mrs. Robinson".

Simon and Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence

Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one deared
Disturb the sound of silence.

Fools said I,you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said,
the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whisperd in the sounds of silence.

Simon and Garfunkel - Mrs. Robinson

We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself

Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
(Wo, wo, wo)

God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret, just the Robinsons' affair
Most of all, you've got to hide it from the kids

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
(Wo, wo, wo)

God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Ev'ry way you look at it, you lose

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you
(Woo, woo, woo)

What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Joltin' Joe has left and gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Genesis - Entangled

http://

When youre asleep they may show you
Aerial views of the ground,
Freudian slumber empty of sound.

Over the rooftops and houses,
Lost as it tries to be seen,
Fields of incentive covered with green.

Mesmerised children are playing,
Meant to be seen but not heard,
Stop me from dreaming!Dont be absurd!

Well if we can help you we will,
You`re looking tired and ill.
As I count backwards
Your eyes become heavier still.

Sleep, wont you allow yourself fall?
Nothing can hurt you at all.
With your consent
We can experiment further still.

Madrigal music is playing,
Voices can faintly be heard,
Please leave this patient undisturbed.

Sentenced to drift far away now,
Nothing is quite what it seems,
Sometimes entangled in your own dreams.

Well, if we can help you we will,
Soon as youre tired and ill.
With your consent
We can experiment further still.

Well, thanks to our kindness and skill
You`ll have no trouble until
You catch your breath
And the nurse will present you the bill!

Supertramp - Dreamer

http://

Dreamer,
you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!

I said dreamer,
youre nothing but a dreamer

Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!

I said far out, - what a day, a year, a laugh it is!
You know, - well you know you had it comin to you,
Now theres not a lot I can do

Dreamer,
you stupid little dreamer;
So now you put your head in your hands, oh no!

I said far out, - what a day, a year, a laugh it is!
You know, - well you know you had it comin to you,
Now theres not a lot I can do.

Well work it out someday

If I could see something
You can see anything you want boy

If I could be someone-
You can be anyone, celebrate boy.

If I could do something-
Well you can do something,
If I could do anything-
Well can you do something out of this world?

Take a dream on a sunday
Take a life, take a holiday
Take a lie, take a dreamer
Dream, dream, dream, dream, dream along...

Dreamer,
you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said dreamer, youre nothing but a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
Oh no!

Hotel California

http://

Hotel California (The Eagles)

On a dark desert highway,
cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas,
rising up through the air

Up ahead in the distance,
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
this could be heaven or this could be hell

Then she lit up a candle
and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face

Plenty of room at the hotel california
Any time of year,
you can find it here

Her mind is tiffany-twisted,
she got the mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys,
that she calls friends

How they dance in the courtyard,
sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember,
some dance to forget

So I called up the captain,
please bring me my wine
He said, we havent had that spirit here
since nineteen sixty nine

And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face

They livin it up at the hotel california
What a nice surprise,
bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said we are all just prisoners here, of our own device

And in the masters chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just cant kill the beast

Last thing I remember,
I wasRunning for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before

relax, said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!
